With summer around the corner I wanted to share this. It might come in handy.

How to Tell a Housefly's Gender

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter.

"What are you doing?" She asked. "Hunting Flies" He responded.

"Oh. Killing any?" She asked. "Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied.

Intrigued, she asked. "How can you tell?"

He responded, "3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone."

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.  :)
21st-Dec-2009 10:58 am - Happy Holidays
Hi everyone! It sure has been a long time since I've posted here. Part of the problem was that I had a hard time getting on the site.Everytime i would log on it would time out on me. Anyway I manage to get to get on today. i've also been having problems with my computer. Getting online is a hit and miss thing. Today was a hit....LOL    Not much has been going on here though. I did up end having to go back to the wound clinic. I developed another edema on my leg and ulcer on my foot. The edema did take a bit longer to clear up but I'm still having problems with the ulcer on my foot. In fact I have to got the clinic today. It is getting better but just taking it's sweet time...LOL   I hope everyone is ready for the holidays. My sisters and I decided to exchange gifts this year. Instead we are using the money to make homemade cookies and candy for ourselves. We did make a tin of goodies for my niece though. We're also going to make our own appetizers for Christmas Eve. I'm doing a Dill dip and cheese puffs. My sister is doing a cream cheese spread and spinach puff pastry cups. Then we will have cheese, crackers, summer sausage, chips, vegetables to dip, cookies, candy,Ginger ale and Barq's soda. It's going to be a full spread. :)  Well I need to go and get ready for my appointment. I hope everyone has a good day. If I don't see you before Christmas I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas. http://twitpic.com/uipbu

Hey folks! How is everyone doing? Not much going on around here. Sis and I are going to try and put a garden in this year but we keep getting snow and we have a persistent vine that just will not die.We started our seeds indoor and we found out that Harley likes chewing on the beet and onion seedlings. We had to put up the tomatoes so he wouldn't get into them.Don't want to poison him.

Today I applied to be a writer of trivia questions for a company that sells trivia questions.I had to send in five sample questions from a pre-selected category. It really isn't as easy as you would think. But I do enjoy doing the research for the questions.I'll know in a couple of days if they can use me.The extra money would be nice if I do get it.

There isn't much else going on.I'm waiting for a package from Borders Bookstore with four new books I ordered. It should be here in the next day or so.I really need these books like I need a hole in my head...LOL Right now I'm reading "The Murder Book" by Johnathan Kellerman.I'm trying to catch up on his books. So far behind.I have so many books I sometimes just don't know where to start...LOL

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.Now I'm off to do some reading.
30th-Mar-2009 08:31 am - For cat and dog owners....
The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door ..

Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food . The other dishes are mine and contain my food . Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest .

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack . Racing me to the bottom is not the object . Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run .

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed . I am very sorry about this . Do not think I will continue sleeping o n the couch to ensure your comfort, however . Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep . . It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible . I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm .

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door . I must exit through the same door I entered . Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required .

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt . I cannot stress this enough .

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

(1) They live here . You don't . (2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture . That's why they call it 'fur'-niture . (3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people . . (4) To you, they are animals . To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly .

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they (1) eat less, (2) don't ask for money all the time, (3) are easier to train, (4) normally come when called, (5) never ask to drive the car, (6) don't hang out with drug-using people; (7) don't smoke or drink, (8) don't want to wear your clothes, (9) don't have to buy the latest fashions, (10) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and (11) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children .

This is what's been happening here in Bozeman. This is so unreal. It's hard to even wrap our heads around at what happened. This will affect Bozeman for a long time.

13th-Feb-2009 09:12 am - Kids On Love And Marriage...
Just in time for Valentines Day...

"You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming." Alan, age 10

"No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with." Kirsten, age 10

"Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then." Camille, age 10

"No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married." Freddie, age 6

"Married people usually look happy to talk to other people." Eddie, age 6

"You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids." Derrick, age 8

"Both don't want no more kids." Lori, age 8

"Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough." Lynnette, age 8

"On the first date, they just tell each other lies, and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date." Martin, age 10

"I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns." Craig, age 9

"When they're rich." Pam, age 7

"The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that." Curt, age 7

"The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do." Howard, age 8

"I don't know which is better, but I'll tell you one thing. I'm never going to have sex with my wife. I don't want to be all grossed out." Theodore, age 8

"It's better for girls to be single, but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them." Anita, age 9

"Single is better, for the simple reason that I wouldn't want to change no diapers. Of course, if I did get married, I'd just phone my mother and have her come over for some coffee and diaper-changing." Kirsten, age 10

"There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?" Kelvin, age 8

"You can be sure of one thing - the boys would come chasing after us just the same as they do now." Roberta, age 7

"If you want to last with your man, you should wear a lot of sexy clothes, especially underwear that is red and maybe has a few diamonds on it." Lori, age 8

"Tell your wife that she looks pretty even if she looks like a truck." Ricky, age 10

Top Ten Christmas Cookie Rules

If you eat a Christmas cookie fresh out of the oven, it has no calories because everyone knows that the first cookie is the test and thus calorie free.

If you drink a diet soda after eating your second cookie, it also has no calories because the diet soda cancels out the cookie calories.

If a friend comes over while you are making your Christmas cookies and needs to sample, you must sample with your friend. Because your friend's first cookie is calorie free (see rule #1). It would be rude to let your friend sample alone, and being the friend that you are, makes your cookie calorie free as well.

Any cookie calories consumed while walking around will fall to your feet and eventually fall off as you move. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.

Any calories consumed during the frosting of the Christmas cookies will be used up because it takes many calories to lick excess frosting from a knife without cutting your tongue.

Cookies colored red or green have very few calories. Red ones have 3 and green ones have 5 - one calorie for each letter. Make more red ones!

Cookies eaten while watching Miracle on 34th Street have no calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel.

As always, cookie pieces contain no calories because the process of breaking causes calorie leakage.

Any cookies consumed from someone else's plate has no calories since the calories rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to their plate. We all know how calories like to CLING!

And finally...

Any cookies consumed while feeling stressed have no calories because cookies used for medicinal purposes NEVER have calories. It's a rule!

16th-Dec-2008 10:21 pm - It's over...
Today we had to put Liza to sleep.I had put her outside this morning and when I went to let her in I saw that she was laying in the snow in the yard.
I called and called to try and get her in but she wouldn't move.In fact I thought she was dead but when a car went by she lifted her head. After about 10 minutes she did get up.When she came to the sidewalk she fell again but she got up.After 2 tries she made it up the steps.I called sis and told her what had happened. She left work and came hope.We decided it was time to let her go.The medicine we were giving her shrunk her tumors about 50% but she was getting weaker in here legs. And today after she fell she just didn't look right.I think she was to tired to try anymore. We didn't want her to suffer anymore.

This year we decided to get a real tree for Christmas.I'm waiting for that Harley to go ripping into the living room and launch himself on to the tree...LOL
10th-Dec-2008 09:01 am - Yesterday was not a good day...
For the past week Liza has gradually stopped eating her dog food. So to get her to eat we were giving here human food like mashed potatoes, chicken even noodles and toast. Then she stopped eating that. She was starting to get really thin.We called our vet to see what he had to say.He said he thought Liza was playing a game to get more human food.He said we should just wait out and then she would start eating her dog food. That was Monday. Yesterday Liza was okay. She still wasn't eating but she was moving around and she went outside.Later in the day I put her and Quincy outside. When I went to let them in I noticed Liza was standing in the yard kind of funny.I called her to come in and that's when I saw that she was dragging her left back leg. She made it to the sidewalk but couldn't get up the steps. It's hard for me to go down steps so I was encouraging her to come up them. After a minute or so she walked back out into the yard.I saw that her leg wasn't dragging anymore. After another 5 minutes I called her a gain to come in and this time she got up the steps on her own.Later when sis got home from work we decided to call our vet back and try to get Liza into see him.We got her in and it wasn't good news. We've been treating Liza for her kidneys and we assumed that was what the problem was.the doctor was shocked how much weight she had lost since he saw her last month. He's 80% sure she has cancer in her neck.He gave us some Prednisone to give her.He said it should stimulate her appetite. If it doesn't the cancer may have gone to far.By this weekend we hope there will be some improvement. To be honest I don't think she will make it to Xmas.Great way to start the Holiday Season huh?

I hope everyone is okay and having a good day.

This is Liza. She's 13 years old.

Hi folks. it's been a couple of weeks since I lasted posted here. A couple of things did happen during that time though.

A few days after we got Harley and Molly my sis bought a new car. We really did need it. She was getting to the point where she was afraid to drive it because she didn't know if it would break down. Anyway she got a 2003 Buick Le Saber. She really loves it. She now has a radio and the doors lock...LOL Also during that time one of our uncles passed away.We were expecting it but still a bit of a shock when he did die. My sisters when down to Nebraska to the funeral. I don't travel long distances very well anymore so I didn't go. Besides we had animals that need to be taken care of. I did get a mini vacation.

Harley and Molly are doing great. They've settled in and Molly has become Queen of the house...LOL It's great to have cats again. Since we've had them we have not seen any mice which was one of the reason we got them. They both enjoy sitting in the window watching the birds and trying to get them which results in falling from the table. Harley is very loving and likes to be held. He has taken to sis and sleeps with her and likes laying in her lap. Molly on the other hand is friendly but does not like to be held unless she wants it. Our cat Misty was like that so it doesn't bother us. In the mornings she likes ripping around the house. One morning she went flying from the living room into the kitchen turned around and went running as fast as her little legs could carry her and tried to jump on the window sill which is only 2 inches wide. That resulted her hitting the window flat and her looking like one of those Garfield dolls you see stuck to car windows. She didn't hit the window that hard and she was fine.

Harley has turned out be a very curious cat.Any door or draw you open he is right there.

One of the things Molly likes is getting a drink from the faucet.

Well I better get going I need to vacuum the house. Hope everyone is having a good day. :)

Geez I didn't realize how long it has been since I lasted posted. Not much going on though. The weather hasn't been to bad with a few hot days thrown in. We have been having quiet a mouse problem. Since the flood in June we have seen an increase in mice in the house. I think so far we have trapped at least four maybe five. Anyway we decides to try those sonic pest repellents and let me tell you they do not work. In fact we think they were attracting the mice to the house. Anyway Sis and I decided to re-join the ranks of cat owners. Right now we are looking for 2 cats that will stay inside. We feed the birds and we really don't want to stop doing that. In fact I have a line on 2 cats right now. I'm just waiting an email back from the lady. So if we do decide to get them I will post pics of them.

I hope everyone is having a good day. :)
